Texters outlast Aces in thrilling OT finish

MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Talk ‘N Text mustered enough strength to repel Alaska Milk in overtime, 121-117, on Saturday’s PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.

Kelly Williams, who came back from his blood illness, helped rack the Texters’ 7th victory against 3 defeats with double-double figures of 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Also giving offensive boost to Talk ‘N Text were Ranidel De Ocampo and Jayson Castro, who strung together 5 crucial points down the stretch.

De Ocampo and Castro had 16 points each, while Ryan Reyes tallied 17 points.

Talk ‘N Text was up by three going into the fourth quarter when Alaska managed to seize the lead for a 104-99 advantage. But De Ocampo and Castro managed to secure a 107-106 breather for the Texters.

After Larry Fonacier split his charities, Alaska’s Sonny Thoss went for the layup that forced the game extension.

The fight remained close during overtime, until Reyes fired a triple that broke the game's final deadlock.

Thoss finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Gabby Espinas recorded 18 markers and 8 rebounds.

Cryus Baguio and jayvee Casio added 17 and 11, respectively, for Alaska which dropped to a 4-7 mark.
