MANILA, Philippines – The National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) will be staging its first international chess tournament this year at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The tournament, dubbed Philippine Sports Commission Cup International Chess Championship, will be held on January 13 – 21.
The Philippine Sports Commission Cup International Chess Championship will be played over nine rounds using the Swiss System, according to NCFP Executive Director GM Jayson Gonzales.
The FIDE-rated tournament will use the Swiss Manager program for pairings.
A total of $30,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winners with the champion getting the lion share of $6,000.
