MANILA, Philippines – Michael Bisping will get his title shot against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva if he beats Vitor Belfort in UFC on FOX, UFC president Dana White said.
Bisping is now officially a win away from the title shot after fellow contenders Alan Belcher and Tim Boetsch suffered losses over the weekend.
"In that division, there were so many guys coming up," White told ESPN. "A couple of those guys lost tonight.
"If Bisping can beat Belfort -- that's a tough fight for Mike -- he deserves the shot at Anderson."
The English fighter has long been asking for the shot against Silva.
He believes he’ll get what he deserves when he goes to Brazil and square off against Belfort on January 19.
"For me, Christmas is coming late this year," Bisping said in MMA Junkie.
"Normally, it's Dec. 25, (but) for me, Christmas is going to be Jan. 19 when I go down to Brazil, beat the living snot out of Vitor Belfort and take my title fight, my rightly deserved title fight, my long overdue title fight," he said.
