President Aquino appointed 61-year-old Herbosa, a litigation lawyer, as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in May 2011.
Prior to this, she was a senior partner of the Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz (ACCRA) Law Offices, where she became an expert litigation lawyer in the areas of alternative dispute resolution, appeals, aviation, environmental law, estate proceedings, family relations, land disputes, mining and natural resources, public utilities, and telecommunications.
She has also been a professional lecturer at the UP Law, where she graduated cum laude in 1977. She has a Master of Comparative Law from the University of Michigan.
She passed the Bar in 1978 with a grade of 88.1325%.
