Valdez, 66, is the dean of the University of the East (UE) College of Law.

This is not the first time that Valdez is vying for a post in the SC. He was nominated by the likes of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim for the position of associate justice in 2010.

Valdez was Government Corporate Counsel from 2001 to 2002. He was also a member of the MWSS board of trustees during that period.

In 2003, he became executive director of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) Commission. In 2004, he became OIC of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Affairs.

He shared his analysis of the Corona impeachment trial with dzMM and ANC. He has a Saturday radio program on dzMM.

He was also a member of the board of trustees of Philex Mining Corp. and Camp John Hay Management Corp.

Valdez took Law at the University of the East and MLQU. He passed the Bar in 1970 with a grade of 80.65%.
