2,282 pass various marine deck officers exams

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Thursday has announced that 2,282 out of 4,240 passed the Marine Deck Officers Licensure Examination for the various ranks which was given by the Board for Marine Deck Officers in Manila last November 8 and 9, 2008.

In addition, a total of 473 examinees were exempted from taking the practical examinations as they opted to submit a Certificate of Training and Certificate of Assessment in the Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork (SSBT).

PRC said the members of the Board for Marine Deck Officers who gave the recent licensure examination were Capt. Jaime Aquino, chairman, Capt. Mike Castro, and Capt. Ireneo Delos Santos.

PRC said the results were released in four working days after the last day of the examinations.

The registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration for those who are exempted in the practical assessment will start on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 and will continue until December 12, 2008, said PRC.

Successful examinees who passed and opted to submit a Certificate of Training and Certificate of Assessment in the SSBT will take their oath before the Board on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel.

Registration for membership with the Masters and Mates Association of the Philippines Inc. (MMAP) will start on November 18.
