Born premature, baby Ashley Corpuz needs all our help to go through an operation for her worsening hydrocephalus and growing lump on the nose.
Both college undergraduates and out of work, couple Roland and Cherlyn Corpuz struggle to find work as their savings have all been used up for the treatment of their only child, baby Ashley.
"Napakahirap kasi ang daming nag-a-apply tapos dadaan ka sa butas ng karayom bago ka makapasok (It's difficult to find work because there are many applicants and you have to undergo rigorous processes to be hired)", Roland told Bantay Bata.
Back in Abuyog, Leyte baby Ashley was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus 3 months after she was born, at around that time, a mass has also started to bulge above the baby’s nose.
With Ashley’s big head, changing her clothing has become more difficult. Even carrying Ashley whenever she cries is physically straining for both Roland and Cherlyn.
An operation has to be done soon to prevent baby Ashley’s condition from getting worse.
"Lalagyan siya ng shunt pag di daw siya naoperahan, palaki ng palaki yung ulo ng anak namin tapos hangga’t hindi na niya makakayanan yung pressure ng tubig sa ulo niya, mamamatay siya(Doctors will place a shunt to avoid the water building up in her head. Without operation, the pressure in her head would increase. If that continues, she won't make it)", Ashley's dad Roland added.
