Radio public service announcement for Filipino WWII veterans

For all Filipino World War II Veterans applying to receive their benefits under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the U.S. Embassy advises that there is no need to rush to the U.S. Embassy. Applications will be accepted for one year, until February 16, 2010. Please bring no more than two companions or helpers.

Although applications will be accepted for one full year, for this week, February 24-26, Veterans may apply at 15 other office locations around the Philippines. These offices are listed in the U.S. Embassy website at manila.usembassy.gov. There is no need to rush to the US. Embassy, and staff from the Embassy’s Department of Veterans Affairs Office will bring application information to Veterans who are unable to apply in person. To request a visit, call 528-2500 within Metro Manila or 1 800 1888 5252 toll free, or via e-mail at https://iris.va.gov.

Veterans should avoid all “fixers” asking for payment. All services are free!
