MANILA, Philippines – The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters need to quickly forget about their heartbreaking loss to San Miguel Beer in Game 1 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals and instead focus on coming back in Game 2 of the best-of-seven series, according to head coach Yeng Guiao.
The Elasto Painters blew an excellent opportunity to deal a huge blow to the defending champions when they squandered a 20-point fourth-quarter lead and lost, 105-109, on Tuesday night, much to the dismay of Guiao.
"The game was ours to lose," Guiao said, as quoted by the league website, after the game. "For three quarters, we were in the lead, and we can't blame anybody but ourselves."
"I think we should take the lesson of this game and be a better team this Thursday," he added.

Rain or Shine scored only 14 points in the fourth quarter while giving up 38 points, including six three-pointers, to San Miguel. It was a sorry finish for the Elasto Painters, who had been doing a fine job of limiting the Beermen's supporting cast.
"We just need to put this behind us," Guiao said firmly after the game. "It's a very disappointing loss, but it's a long series so we'll just prepare (on Wednesday) and come back Thursday and learn from the lesson of today."
Game 2 is set for Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum.
