SAN FERNANDO CITY - Three siblings were taken hostage by their uncle inside their house in Barangay Bacsayan in San Juan, La Union Monday morning.
According to Daisy Zafra, the victims' aunt, she asked her brother, Bobot Soriano, to sleep, but he refused, saying that someone is trying to shoot him.
Soriano then went inside a room where the three victims were sleeping and took them hostage.
The incident happened at 3:00 in the morning.
Police immediately surrounded the house and negotiated with Soriano.
One of the victims was able to escape at around 10:00 in the morning, while another victim, alias 'Alvin', 9, was able to escape at around 1:00 in the afternoon.
Soriano released the last victim, 'Sophia', 19, after an hour.
All the victims were immediately brought to the hospital for treatment. 'Sophia' sustained wounds on her hand.
Soriano is currently detained in San Juan Police Station.
The police is still investigating the suspect's motive. They learned Soriano was drunk when the incident happened. -- exclusive report from Chuck Tinte, ABS-CBN News North Luzon
