A child who was crossing the street was hit by a tricycle in San Roque, Cavite.
In the CCTV video submitted by a Bayan Patroller to ABS-CBN News, the child can be seen hopping off a tricycle near a school in Lopez Jaena Street. The incident happened on February 19 as confirmed by barangay captain Renan Montoya.
Another tricycle emerged and ran over the child. The victim was rushed to a hospital in Cavite and later transferred to the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.
The child survived the accident but had to undergo an operation on the eyelids and forehead.
Village officials have met with the school administration to implement measures to ensure the safety of students. Officials have begun to put in place a loading and unloading area for tricycles, a pedestrian lane and barriers on both sides of the school gate.
PO2 Armangel Genuino told Bayan Mo, Ipatrol Mo that the family of the child will not file charges against the tricycle driver. The driver has agreed to pay for the child's hospital bills.
