ILOILO CITY -- Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. has ordered a fact-finding committee to look into a Department of Agriculture (DA) project after receiving reports of alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Art Center project in Pototan town.
The fact-finding committee will investigate how funds allotted for the project are being used. Defensor also wants to know the status of the project.
The provincial government has allotted P9.5 million for the 3-year project.
Suzette Mamon, a member of the fact-finding committee, said the project planning and monitoring head failed to give a copy of the status report that should have been submitted Monday.
The Provincial Agriculture Department, on the other hand, assured the committee that it will hand over any related document on the project.
A demo farm was established in Pototan to serve as a center to study ways on how to improve the quality of agricultural products in the province.
The project is managed by the Provincial Agriculture Office. -- report from Rio Sumagaysay, ABS-CBN News Iloilo
