MANILA – Unilever Philippines, Inc. has been named the top advertiser for the year 2013, according to television audience measurement provider Kantar Media.
The result was announced during Kantar Media’s press briefing on its Advertising Expenditure Report 2013, a service that “tracks television, radio and print advertisements placed throughout the year.”
Unilever Philippines, Inc. was reported to have spent over P48 billion on television advertisements alone last year.
According to Kantar Media, Unilever was the top spender in all channels and timeslots including ABS-CBN, GMA7, TV5, cable and free to air channels.
Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble Philippines, Inc. and Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, Inc. occupied the second and third spots after spending over P33 billion and P15 billion in television advertisements respectively.
Kantar Media, however, revealed that the report does not include advertisements placed on mobile and online as it has yet to develop a service that will track ads on those platforms.
Top products advertised on TV
The top product categories that were frequently advertised on television were also revealed during the media briefing.
According to Kantar Media, with more than P24 billion worth of television advertisements, the detergents and laundry aids were the top spending category last year.
This category topped all channels and timeslots, except for ABS-CBN where hair shampoo brands occupied the top category.
