MANILA -- About P43,000 worth of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages were stolen by alleged members of the "Daga-daga Gang" from a grocery store in Igualdad, Naga City on Sunday night, authorities said.
Police said members of the gang dig holes and use the sewerage to enter establishments.
They found a hole 150 meters away from the grocery store, which the police believe was used by the robbers.
Authorities recovered tools such as a hydraulic jack, digger bar, steel saw and a knife.
Based on fingerprints and footprints, police said the suspects wanted to take the store's money vault inside the office, but it was empty.
Instead, they took several packs of cigarettes and bottles of alcoholic drinks worth P43,000.
The store doesn't have a CCTV camera, which could have helped in the investigation. -- report from Mylce Mella, ABS-CBN News Bicol
