MANILA -- Night flights to and from Zamboanga City have been temporarily suspended because of its airport's busted runway lights.
Zamboanga City Airport manager Danilo Abereta said faulty and old electrical wires caused the problem in the runway lights.
Technical personnel of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines are currently replacing the faulty cables.
However, Abereta cannot say when the work will be finished.
He said evening flights from two airline companies and at least 360 passengers have been affected.
Abereta admitted that the two airline companies might lose millions of pesos if repairs will take time.
Meanwhile, people have lined up at the airport to have their flights rebooked.
CAAP hopes that the repairs won't take long and the airport will resume its 24-hour operation soon. -- report from RJ Rosalado, ABS-CBN News Zamboanga
