MANILA – A private group has expressed its support for PasaHero, a mobile application powered by ABS-CBNnews.com that aims to help Filipino commuters by broadcasting their trip details to family and friends.
Easy Taxi, said to be the world’s biggest taxi app, recently recommended PasaHero as a way to keep people safe when riding a cab.
It said in a press release that PasaHero “helps alert family or friends if there’s any danger encountered while on the road.”
Other tips from Easy Taxi include asking the driver to open the trunk to check for suspicious items, taking a photo of the driver and the cab’s plate number, and frequently contacting friends and family members during the trip.
“One of our advocacies here in the Philippines is to rebrand the transportation industry of the country, especially in regards to taxis. In the past months, more and more stories are coming out related to terrifying taxi ride experiences, but we strongly believe that there are still lots of good taxi drivers out there and we are very happy to work with them,” said Mario Berta, regional chief executive officer of Easy Taxi.
In line with its efforts to “rebuild the image that taxi drivers have especially among female commuters,” Easy Taxi has waived the P70 booking fee for female passengers taking a cab in Metro Manila until March 14.
“We strongly believe that this would help drivers to improve their image and help the women around the metro commute more safely,” Berta said.
Introduced late last year, PasaHero is available for Android and iOS devices for free.
