Series scores now 2-1
MANILA, Philippines – Petron Blaze has effectively avoided getting swept by Rain or Shine by stunning the Elasto Painters with a 106-73 win in Game 3 of their best-of-seven PBA Philippine Cup semis series.
The Boosters has dealt the Elasto Painters a 33-point defeat, which is their worst under Yeng Guiao’s tenure as Rain or Shine coach.
According to the PBA website, Petron also snapped Rain or Shine’s 10-game streak since the eliminations.
Arwind Santos dished out an MVP performance for the Boosters, tallying his ninth double-double in the ongoing tournament with 22 points and 18 rebounds.
Petron also drew double figures from Alex Cabagnot and June Mar Fajardo. Cabagnot chipped in 15, while Fajardo had 14 points to go with his 12 rebounds.
The Boosters raced to a fiery start, immediately posting a 29-point lead in the first half.
Things got worse for the Elasto Painters after Guiao was ejected early in the third quarter when he was called for his second technical. He was caught flashing a dirty sign against Santos and this led to his ejection.
Petron was comfortably leading, 74-58, at that point.
Beau Belga top-scored Rain or Shine with 14 points and seven rebounds. JR Quinahan added 10.
The Elasto painters are still leading in the series, 2-1.
