MANILA – A week after it happened, charges were already filed against the parties implicated in the alleged rape and mauling incident involving “It’s Showtime” host Vhong Navarro.
Navarro filed charges against model Deniece Cornejo, businessman Cedric Lee and seven others.
Cornejo then retaliated by filing a rape case against the host.
But whose side is telling the truth?
On Wednesday, TV Patrol asked on all its social media accounts, “Ano'ng masasabi mo sa kasong rape na isinampa ni Deniece vs Vhong, at sa mga kaso naman ni Vhong vs Deniece at Cedric?”
Many Facebook users took the side of Navarro.
Anna Margarita Natividad said, “Ang tigas ng mukha ni Deniece magsampa ng kasong rape, eh hindi naman tumugma sa kuha ng CCTV ‘yung statement nila ni Cedric. Ano ‘yun, ni-rape in less than 2 minutes? Tss.”
Mary Rose Bernardo-Revano challenged Cornejo to undergo medical examination to validate her claim.
“Magpa-medical siya nang malaman ang totoo.”
Estrella Baltonado said that the CCTV footage has clearly invalidated Cornejo’s claim.
“Paano makikita ni Lee na nakapatong si Vhong kay Deniece, eh sinundo siya ni Deniece sa labas? Hay naku babae ka. Kitang-kita sa CCTV ang lahat ng galaw nyo.”
Bhebing Ponteras questioned the inconsistency of Cornejo’s words and actions.
“Bakit nagsampa ng kasong rape si Deniece laban kay Vhong? Eh sa mga interviews nila ang sabi attempted rape lang, bakit biglang naging rape agad? In a couple of minutes lang naman ang pagitan ni Vhong at Cedric ayon sa CCTV, may rape agad na nagyayari?”
Teddy A. Manalo, on the other hand, viewed the matter differently.
“Ang masasabi ko lang, this is a big lesson for Vhong. Huwag kang makipagrelasyon sa taong may karelasyon na dahil may magagalit sa’yo. Nangyari na nga ang hindi inaasahan.”
Twitter users gave mixed responses.
Jenna Termulo (@Jhenna_Termulo) said, “Sana matapos na ang issue nila at umamin ang may sala para case close na agad.”
Ron Mia (@rojan88) claimed that Denise should not be judged for filing a case because it is her right.
“It is her right to file such case. It's for the court to decide the merits of the case.”
Twitter user hilompalihog (@officialJennyyy) compared Deniece’s statements to the CCTV footage released by the National Bureau of Investigation.
“Let the CCTV videos speak for the case. Hindi naman po siguro mangyayari ang isang rape in less than one minute.”
Dew DC (@derwindelacruz) agreed. “Vhong's cases vs Deniece et al are much believable than the rape case of Deniece's. She can't deceive evidences.”
Jeffrey Morales (@jeffmorales) refused to take sides but hoped for the case to end and justice to be served.
“Sana mapatunayan ngayon na totoong may justice sa Pilipinas. At managot ang totoong nagkasala.”
