MANILA - Are some Commission on Elections employees hooked on illegal drugs?
This is the claim of some suspected drug pushers who were arrested in a raid in Intramuros, Manila Friday morning.
Elements of Manila Police District Station 5 said up to 20 suspects were rounded up in a drug raid at Barangay 654, Zone 29, Legaspi Street in Intramuros Friday.
Seized from the suspects were sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, cell phones, gambling machines and money.
Butch Navarro, one of the suspects, said some of their buyers include employees of Comelec, TESDA and other government offices in Intramuros.
Barangay Chairman Juvy Fuentes said the suspects are not from the barangay and do not have any record of illegal activities.
Supt. Alex Yanquiling, MPD Station 5 commander, said most of the suspects are from different barangays but supply narcotics to Barangay 654.
