MANILA – Militant groups on Wednesday attempted to go near the house of President Benigno Aquino III in Quezon City to protest the alleged anomalies in the rehabilitation projects in communities hit by super typhoon "Yolanda."
Some 100 members of Gabriela, Kilusang Mayo Uno, Anakpawis, and other militant groups were barred by police forces from going near the president's house along Times Street.
Calling Aquino a "disaster president," the protesters criticized the president for the alleged anomalies involving the rehabilitation projects, particularly the reported overpricing of bunkhouses meant for typhoon survivors.
They also criticized the Aquino administration for supposedly "abandoning" the typhoon survivors amid their plight.
The lightning rally was held as the country marks today the second month since the typhoon struck the country.
