MANILA - A German cruise line conducted two-day career caravan to provide opportunities to those affected by the earthquake and recent super typhoon in the Visayas region.
AIDA Cruises said qualified candidates will work onboard their 10 vessels.
"The hospitality and excellent qualification of the Visayans are highly appreciated by the German guests onboard," said Imke Mecke, AIDA Senior Manager for Recruitment Fleet.
During the annual caravan, Mecke also announced the arrival of two new AIDA vessels in 2015 and 2016 which will be manned by Filipino crew members.
AIDA Cruise has been conducting its career caravan in the Visayas Region since 2009.
Meanwhile, AIDA, in cooperation with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), conducted a charity event on Thursday in Cebu City to aid its Filipino crew members and their families who were affected by the earthquake that struck Bohol and Cebu last October.
Mecke expressed her heartfelt sympathy to those affected by the earthquake. She, along with AIDA and Magsaysay teams, were able to visit some of the seafarers' families affected by the quake.
Mecke also handed over individual checks to the affected AIDA families summing up a total donation of $10,000.
She likewise assured those who attended the charity event of AIDA's commitment to support the survivors of typhoon Yolanda.
