MANILA -- The fire marshal of Vintar town in Ilocos Norte was sacked after he punched three criminology students who were having their on-the-job training (OJT) at the Bureau of Fire Protection Provincial Office in Laoag City.
According to provincial fire marshal Joseph Icuspit, the relief of Senior Fire Officer 4 Reynolds Aguinaldo was ordered by regional director Aloever Ferrer.
Initial investigation showed that Aguinaldo first scolded the three interns before punching them on the chest.
Authorities said the three students were just sitting when Aguinaldo, who was found to be drunk at that time, scolded and punched them.
The fire marshal has since apologized to the students. The students also said that they will not file a case against Aguinaldo.
However, authorities said administrative proceedings against Aguinaldo will still continue. -- Report from Denis Agcaoli, ABS-CBN News Ilocos Norte
