MANILA -- An inmate was allegedly mauled by a jail warden in the Santiago City District Jail in Santiago City, Isabela.
Ana Delia Rubia, the inmate's mother, went to the Regional Trial Court Branch 36 in Santiago City to request for a release order for her son, Rodel Rubia, who she said was mauled by a jail warden.
She wanted to bring her son to the hospital for a check-up. Judge Anastacio Anghad granted her request.
According to Rodel, as narrated by his mother, he was mauled last Friday by Mark Bryan Dirain, a jail warden in Santiago City District Jail.
Rodel and the other inmates had a drinking spree inside their cell. Dirain found out about the activity, and reprimanded the inmates. Rodel answered back, and Dirain allegedly hit him with a shovel.
The inmate sustained some abrasions and swelling in his hand and chest.
The news team tried to get the side of Warden Dirain, but according to J Sr/Insp. Alfred Pattaui, the former has already been relieved from service.
The family of the victim is preparing to file charges against Dirain. -- report from Harris Julio, TV Patrol Cagayan Valley.
