MANILA, Philippines – He may have lost the scoring duel with Ginebra's Mark Caguioa, but GlobalPort's Terrence Romeo said he was thrilled to have played against "The Spark."
Romeo, who has brought his prodigious scoring ability to the PBA, nearly towed the Batang Pier to victory in his 27-point shooting spree against the Gin Kings on Thursday.
But Caguioa banked on his experience to lift Ginebra past GlobalPort, 104-109, by scoring 29 markers.
Despite their loss to the Kings, Romeo said he relishes the experience of playing against his childhood hero.
Kahit naka-side na yung tira nya, nashu-shoot pa rin,” said the 2013 UAAP Most Valuable Player in the PBA website.
What motivated him further for their future encounters was Caguioa’s kind words to him after the game.
Although some quarters are labeling him as PBA’s next big thing, the former FEU Tamaraw begged to differ.
“Kailangan ko pang magtrabaho,” he said.
