HOUSTON - Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver, one game shy of matching the NBA's longest streak of games with a 3-point basket, had his bid for history put on hold Wednesday.
The 32-year-old American suffered a rib contusion in Tuesday's game against Orlando, when he went 1-of-6 from 3-point range to stretch his streak of consecutive games with baskets from beyond the arc to 88.
That put Korver one shy of the NBA record streak of 89 set by Dana Barros from 1994 to 1996.
Korver, who began his streak November 4 of last year against the Oklahoma City Thunder, missed the Hawks' trip to Houston for a game Wednesday to have treatment, and it is not certain when he might return to the lineup.
The streak would not end with a game missed due to injury, only if Korver plays in a game but does not sink a 3-pointer.
The Hawks' next game is Friday at home against the Dallas Mavericks.
