MANILA – Richard Gomez has finally set the record straight regarding rumors that Dawn Zulueta allegedly turned down a movie which they were supposed to make following the success of the top-rating series "Walang Hanggan."
It was reported back in June that Gomez and Zulueta will have a big screen reunion, which will also feature John Lloyd Cruz and Jessy Mendiola.
On Monday, however, Gomez had a story conference with Star Cinema for an upcoming movie, also with Cruz and Mendiola, but his partner in the movie would be Gretchen Barretto.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Gomez said there is no truth to the circulating rumors because he and Zulueta are still scheduled to do a movie, probably next year.
“Mayroon kaming teleserye na gagawin ni Dawn tapos 'yung movie namin ni Dawn, to follow. Iba itong project namin ni Gretchen. Teleserye muna, mag-start na kami ni Dawn ng taping namin in the next few weeks,” he said.
Gomez said he is looking forward to start filming with Barretto, whom he had numerous movies with in the past.
“Marami na rin kaming ginawang pelikula ni Gretchen before which became big hits. I’m very excited. It’s going to be an acting movie,” he said.
Asked what will be the storyline of their movie, Gomez said: “This is a story of a couple whose marriage is about to end. Kaming dalawa 'yung mag-asawa pero somehow along the way, nagkaroon kami ng high-profile case. We are working on it together pero on opposing ends. The movie will ask us, will this save or will this end our marriage?”
Aside from being reunited with Barretto, Gomez said he is also thrilled to work with Cruz, who has been tagged as the Box Office King.
“I’m just happy to be working with Gretchen and John Lloyd. Kami ni John Lloyd, the last time we worked together was during Palibhasa Lalake pa. Bagets pa kami doon, how long ago was that?” he said.
Set to be directed by Chito Roño, Gomez and Barretto’s film will be the culminating movie of the 20th anniversary of Star Cinema.
