MANILA - ABS-CBN anchor Karen Davila was one of the nine personalities recognized Thursday at this year's The Outstanding Women in the Nation's Service (TOWNS) awards.
Davila, who was also recognized by People Asia magazine and Rotary Golden Wheel this year, was awarded for her contribution in media.
Aside from Davila, awards were also given to Noraida Adang Abdullah Karim for social work, Atty. Darlene Marie Berberabe for government service, and Ana Karina Brown for sports.
The other awardees were: Maria Rachelle Gerodias for performing arts, Gemma Narisma for atmospheric science, Eleanor Pinugu for social enterprise and education, Ma. Amihan Ramoleye for theater arts, and Maricor Soriano for applied physics.
Among the personalities who attended the awarding ceremony were Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, TOWNS Vice-President Aura Matias, Metrobank Foundation President Aniceto Sobrepena, Atty. Lorna Kapunan and veteran actress Nora Aunor.
TOWNS awards is presented every three years by the TOWNS Foundation.
It recognizes "outstanding Filipino women who have contributed in national capability through their respective fields."
