MANILA, Philippines - A subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is planning an expansion of its commercial center and corporate office along C-5 road.
In a statement, BCDA Management and Holdings, Inc. (BMHI) general manager Rafael Llave said there are plans to build and lease 50 more commercial stalls at the Pamayanang Diego Silang commercial strip next year.
There are currently 64 stalls, including internet cafes, laundry shops and drug stores, at the PDS commercial center located in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City.
"The businesses that will be put up in the additional stalls will augur well to serve the 5,000 residents of the PDS Housing Project as well as the residents of the nearby communities,” Llave said.
Residents of the housing project will be encouraged to lease the stalls and put up their own businesses, as part of BMHI’s livelihood program.
Llave said the 50 additional stalls will measure 25-sqm each and will be housed in a two-storey building.
At the same time, BMHI is also planning to expand its one-storey corporate center into a three to five-storey building. The BMHI Corporate Center is located within the PDS commercial strip.
“We envision the first floor to accommodate commercial establishments like banks and major franchise stores while the remaining floors will cater to corporate offices including the BMHI,” he said.
Llave said BMHI is planning to bid out the two expansion projects in 2014, once the Terms of Reference have been finalized.
