MANILA – Radio DJ and former MTV VJ Andi Manzano took to social media to defend her wedding, which was held amid relief efforts for victims of super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan).
In a post on Instagram on Thursday, Manzano stressed that pushing through with their wedding does not mean that she and her husband, publicist and club owner GP Reyes, are “oblivious to the plight of our brothers and sisters in Tacloban and Bohol.”
This after a number of Internet users criticized her for being “insensitive” for holding a wedding amid the typhoon tragedy.
“I will say this once and once only as I have heard some negative comments about my wedding on Instagram. I got married a few days ago in a wonderful ceremony and I am so very happy with my amazing husband GP Reyes… but in spite of the celebration… it doesn’t mean we are oblivious to the plight of our brothers and sisters inTacloban and Bohol… in fact we are already in mid stride to provide aid in our own way,” she wrote as the caption of her photo, which can be seen by the public.
Manzano emphasized they prepared for their wedding for more than a year.
“So please excuse me and my husband for our few days of festivity… we have planned this wedding for more than a year… so please allow us to enjoy our moment. We are not being insensitive… we [are] just not the kind of people who broadcast our charity work… but our love… that on the other hand… I will broadcast til the ends of the earth. Thank you for understanding,” she wrote.
Manzano and Reyes got married in Baguio on Tuesday, November 12.
Some of the celebrities who have been posting photos of the wedding on social media include DJ Jessica Mendoza, socialite-host Tim Yap and host Rovilson Fernandez.
