MANILA, Philippines – An estimated 200 families lost their homes in a fire that hit Barangay Culiat, Quezon City on Monday.
The fire hit around 100 homes at around 2 p.m. and reached the second alarm before it was put out at around 3:15 p.m.
Quezon City Fire Department chief Supt. Jesus Fernandez said the fire cost damages amounting to an estimated P3 million.
Authorities said the fire started at the home of 68-year-old Arsenio Sumagang in Balut Street near Congressional Avenue Extension.
Sumagang, however, said he was not at home when the fire started.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire.
