MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian grabbed the third spot in the NCAA men’s basketball Final 4 by hammering out a hard-fought victory against Perpetual Help on Tuesday.
The Stags ruined the return of the Altas’ Nicholas Omorogbe by pulling off a 79-71 win, thereby setting up a semis clash against second-seed Letran Knights.
Rookie CJ Perez led San Sebastian with 20 points.
The Stags also received additional firepower from Bradwyn Guinto and Jovit dela Cruz, who scored 15 and 14, respectively.
It was Omorogbe’s first game since injuring his knee. He scored 21 points for the Altas, who haven’t beaten the Stags in their three encounters this season.
San Sebastian will battle Letran on November 2. The Knights will be enjoying a twice-to-beat edge over the Stags.
Fourth-seed Perpetual, on the other hand, will tangle with top-seeded San Beda in the other semifinals pairing.
