MANILA -- Flabby and sagging skin, especially on the arms, is a common problem among women.
In an interview with "Salamat Dok" that aired on Sunday, celebrity dermatologist Dr. Vicky Belo explained that people lose collagen and elastin on their skin as they age.
She also debunked the common misconception that exercise and work out can get rid of flabby and sagging skin.
"Walang kinalaman ang pag-e-exercise sa nakalaylay na balat. Magkahiwalay ang skin at muscle," Belo pointed out.
One solution to get tighten skin is to undergo a Thermage therapy, which uses radiofrequency energy to boost the skin's natural process. It is often used to tighten the skin on different parts of the body.
Thermage also provides instantaneous effects, but it usually takes one to three months for the skin to be tighter and smoother.
The effects of the procedure lasts for two to three years, Belo said.
The doctor also explained that this procedure is recommended for older women. However, in cases where Thermage cannot remedy the problem, Belo recommended liposuction or surgery.
