MANILA - The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered Sandiganbayan Justice Gregory Ong and lawyers Mark Oliveros, Editha Talaboc, Raymond Gerardo Tansip, and Joshua Lapuz to answer the sworn allegations made by 'pork barrel' scam whistleblowers Benhur Luy and Marina Sula during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings.
The order was made in the absence of any complaint linking Ong and the lawyers to alleged 'pork barrel' scam architect Janet Lim Napoles.
"The Court en banc acted motu propio to order SC Justice Gregory Ong and the 4 lawyers... to comment on the sworn allegations aired by... Luy and Sula during the hearing dated Sept. 26 of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation of the so-called Napoles scam," SC Public Information Office (PIO) chief Theodore Te told reporters.
As per the account of whistleblowers, the lawyers notarized the registration of the alleged bogus non-government organizations (NGO) formed by Napoles to siphon legislators' 'pork barrel'funds.
Ong, meantime, met with Napoles several times during the pendency of the graft and malversation charges against her and her husband, Jaime, over the questionable purchase of 500 Kevlar helmets worth P3.8 million to the AFP, the whistleblowers said.
