MANILA, Philippines - City of Dreams Manila is the next casino-resort to rise in Entertainment City, Manila.
Integrated casino resort developer Melco Crown Resorts Corp. unveiled the name of its new Manila casino resort on Wednesday, which named after its flagship City of Dreams resort in Macau.
City of Dreams Manila is slated to open around mid-2014. Melco has increased the budget for the project development to $680 million from its initial $620 million.
The development now includes a 260-room Crown Towers hotel, a luxury premium brand that will cater to the high-end VIP and premium mass market segments in Manila. Crown Towers currently has two hotels in Melbourne and Macau.
City of Dreams Manila is also ramping up its casino facilities, after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.'s revised gaming regulations, which allow for a "meaningful" increase in allowable gaming positions.
With the revision, City of Dreams Manila is expected to operate up to approximately 365 gaming tables, 1680 slot machines and 1,680 electronic table games upon opening.
Previously, the resort was expected to have only 242 gaming tables and 1,450 electronic gaming machines.
City of Dreams Manila is being developed and operated by Melco Crown, in alliance with the SM group's Belle Corp.
The resort will have a Family Entertainment Center, a live performance central lounge inside the casino and a night club at the Fortune Egg.
