MANILA – State weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring a potential cyclone off Virac, Catanduanes.
PAGASA said a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 1,000 kilometers east of Virac as of 4 a.m.
PAGASA forecaster Connie Rose Dadivas told radio dzMM that the LPA may develop into a cyclone in the next 48 hours, at which point it will be called "Santi."
The weather bureau said due to the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ), Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
