MANILA - President Aquino on Wednesday said the fight against corruption is still a work in progress, noting that there are still many barricades to instilling change in government.
In an interview, Aquino said one outcome in the fight against corruption was the removal of Chief Justice Renato Corona and the appointment of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
"We impeached a Supreme Court chief justice who lost his way. We have a new Chief Justice who is hopefully leading the judiciary on the right path," he said.
On the other hand, Aquino criticized the decision of a regional trial court judge to stop a revamp in the Bureau of Customs.
"It is still a work in progress. Sovereignty resides in the people, the people will decide where we will go," he said.
