MANILA – Two people were found dead in Payatas, Quezon City on Monday morning.
The victims, who sustained gunshot wounds, were found beside a dumpsite along Sandakot Street in Barangay Payatas B. One of them was a male, while the gender of the second victim has yet to be determined.
Several bullet slugs were found at the crime scene.
Residents said a blue van arrived in the area at around 1 a.m. At least 16 gunshots were then heard.
Residents failed to identify the slain victims. Ronald Escare, an anti-crime group leader in the area, said this is the fourth murder incident to happen near the dumpsite this year.
Police investigators are now in the area to process the crime scene. They have raised doubts over the residents' testimony that a van passed by the area, saying no vehicle could have entered the portion of the dumpsite because the road is covered with thick mud. – reports from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News; and Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
