MANILA (UPDATE) – A fire hit the basement of GMA Network building in Quezon City on Sunday evening.
The fire hit the basement 2 of the building past 9 p.m. This prompted the evacuation of employees in the building.
No one was reported injured in the incident, but the blaze caused power outage in the building. The fire also caused heavy traffic in the area.
The fire, which only lasted for about 20 minutes, was declared out at 9:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, Fire Superintendent Samuel Tadeo, Quezon City deputy district fire marshal for operations, said the fire hit the chiller room at the basement, affecting the building's power supply.
GMA News, in its official Twitter account, said the network may experience technical difficulties as a result of the fire.
"We may be experiencing some tech difficulties because of this. Please bear with us," GMA Network said.
The television network said employees working in Main Building "whose presence isn't required for operations/to restore ops may not come to work today."
