MANILA – Filipina Megan Young is on a roll as she is currently ranked second in the Miss World people’s choice race just a few days before the coronation night in Indonesia on Saturday.
According to a post on the Miss World website on Wednesday, Young is at No. 2 after Maroua Kharbouch of Gibraltar in the People’s Champion contest, which is determined by online votes.
Other contenders for the special award come from Mexico, Dominica, Malaysia, Cote D’Ivoire, Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.
Voting is done in the Miss World 2013 app, which is available on iOS and Android devices. The contestant who gets the most number of votes will go straight to the finals of the Miss World coronation night.
“The person with the most votes will be declared the People’s Champion, and regardless of the points she has on the board, she will go straight into the climatic finale!” a post on the Miss World website read.
“However, if she has already collected enough points to place in the top 5, it will remain a top 5!”
Young was recently chosen as one of the 10 finalists in the Miss World Top Model competition. She is also one of the 11 contestants who participated in the Beach Fashion finals.
On top of these, the television host has been selected to perform a solo dance number during the pageant’s “Dances of the World” segment.
Young is also eyeing the “Beauty with a Purpose” special award, which will secure her a spot in the semifinals of the Miss World pageant.
