Protesters surround Mikey Arroyo's U.S. house

FOSTER CITY, CA—Philippine Congressman Mikey Arroyo's house had some very angry visitors this morning.
Filipino-American activists, chanting “Shame on you, you got caught!” staged a protest outside the home that is situated in the upscale planned community. They say they are disgusted that Arroyo, son of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, bought the $1.3 million home and failed to declare it as part of his real estate assets.
“Of course there should be a clear investigation of how he got his wealth, where he is investing it,” said Terry Valen, chair of the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns. “It’s clear that this is not coming from his salary as a Philippine congressman.”
The protesters say they are not surprised that another Arroyo property in the Bay Area has been exposed.
“In the past, we’ve heard of allegations of the Arroyos trying to hide other million-dollar homes in San Francisco. We know that this is a pattern of the Arroyos, hiding their ill-gotten wealth,” said Racquel Redondiez, chair of Gabriela USA.
What is more disturbing for the protesters is that Arroyo insists the Foster City house is owned by a company, when county records show that his wife is listed as the house’s only owner.
“It just further exposes the pattern of cover-up. If you’re not hiding anything, why would you have to cover it up and deny?” Redondiez said.
The protesters say Arroyo should come clean about the source of his ballooned wealth. Arroyo’s net worth jumped from 5 million pesos in 2002, to 99 million pesos in 2008.
“We’re just here to express our outrage that Congressman Arroyo has all the money to spend on a million-dollar home in Foster City while our people in the Philippines only live on less than a dollar a day,” said Jack de Jesus, Deputy Secretary of Bayan USA.
The protesters call on the Philippine and U.S. government to investigate the source of Arroyo's wealth before this Foster City house is sold.
“If they (the Arroyos) get paid for the house, then the money goes back into their accounts and they can do whatever they want with it. Who knows what they’re going to do next? But this could be the money of taxpayers not just in the Philippines, but also for us here in the U.S.,” said Valen.
The protesters made efforts to deter potential buyers by putting up warning signs on the sidewalks.
Neighbors have mixed reactions. A Filipino neighbor who refused to be identified said the Arroyos don’t bother him, because they are never around. Allen Leader, another neighbor of the house, wants the Arroyo family to come clean about the home to the Filipino people so the protests will end in Foster City.

Paano nga naman aasenso ang Pinas kung ang namamahala ay corrupt.
Pinalitan si Erap dahil tumanggap ng regalong pera galing sa jueteng. Ang pera sa jueteng ay galing sa nagsusugal na may kagustuhan tumaya sa pag baka sakali na manalo. Hindi yun pera galing sa kaban ng bayan. Pero ang ating ipinalit mas corrupt pa kay Erap. Pera ng mamamayan ang nilustay nila.
Ang daming walang makain sa Pinas. Pero ang ating mga Politicians headed by GMA mismo ay magaling magwaldas ng pera ng Pilipinas. Isang Kainan lang, almost 1 million ang naubos nila. Samantalang sa Pinas ay maraming kumakalam ang tiyan dahil walang pambili ng pagkain. Kahit sabihin pa nila na gastos ni kuan yon. Donation ni kuan yon. Nasaan na ang delikadesa nila.

Did MIKEY ARROYO sourced the MONEY used to pay for the Foster City from the Philippines? Was it declared when he brought it into the United States? Or was he just more "clever" than the Garcias? The governments of the Philippines and the United States should investigate MIKEY ARROYO for "money laundering"! Maybe, the money were just wirhdrawn from hidden bank deposits in the US of A!

ano ba naman yan. nakakahiya itong mga pilipino na ito. nasa america na kayo. dala dala nyo pa ang pagigiging talangka ninyo. binili nila yan wala na kayong pakialam dyan. kawawa kayong mga bayaran ng mga walang magawa. kung binili man yan ng kinurakot na pera. ano ngayon ang magagawa nyo? umalis na kayo dyan dahil hinihiya lang ninyo ang sarili ninyo. wala na kayong magagawa dyan. kulang na kulang kayo sa pansin. akala nyo ba naman papansinin kayo ng mga tao dyan. tinatawanan lang kayo. inggit kayo kasi up to now. nag re rent pa rin kayo and you guys cannot afford to buy a house like that in the bay area. aminin na ninyo. kung hindi kayo mag hugas ng pwet ng mga puti wala kayo. kaya please tigilan na ninyo yan. tingin ko nga mga care givers na illegal pa ang mga hitsura nyo. come on have life. leave them alone.

Talaga bang naghihirap na ang mga pinoy sa america at mukhang pati sila ay nababayaran para mag-protesta. Unprofessionals! Sabagay, karamihan nga pala sa inyo ay blue collar job and nag-tnt lang. Mind you people, hindi kayo kasali sa kaban ng Pilipinas kasi di naman kayo nagbabayad ng taxes sa atin kaya wag kayong umasta na para kayong ninanakawan!
Mahirap maging Presidente na Pilipinas kaya dapat lang na malaki ang maging sahod nya at mga benefits. Kung kayo nga na nag-e-empleyo e himihingi ng mas malaking sahod sa kakarampot nyong responsibilidad, sya pa kaya na pasan ang buong bansa? Kaya kung kanya man ang bahay at kung ano mang ari-arian nya, she definitely deserve it!
