HAYWARD, California – The suspect who stabbed dead a Filipino security guard was arrested Thursday morning in Sunnvale, California.

Karl George Sanft, 34, of Union City is now detained at the Sta. Rita Jail in Dublin, California.

Sanft is accused of killing Filipino security guard Angelito Erasquin.

Erasquin’s death was initially believed to be a simple case of hit-and-run. However, police confirmed that the victim died of multiple stab wounds.

Erasquin, and another victim, 53-year old truck driver James Whitman, were found dead earlier this week outside the main gate of an auto auction business where the Filipino worked.

The victim’s family members said Erasquin was planning to retire in the Philippines this May. Balitang America
