MANILA - The Department of Labor and Employment on Wednesday announced it will soon work on producing identification cards for millions of overseas Filipino workers.

These ID of the Department of Labor and Employment (iDOLE) cards would serve as overseas employment certificate (OEC), and ID for Social Security Services (SSS), PAGIBIG, and PhilHealth.

Carrying this ID means the OFW has had his documents legally processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), according to Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella.

The government previously said this card will be valid for two years and the OFWs would not have to pay for its cost as the processing of the iDOLE would be shouldered by the employers.

The ID, according to Abella, would be delivered by PhilPost to the OFWs' respective addresses.

There are roughly 2.4 million Filipinos working overseas as of 2015, and they have sent home about P180 billion that year.
