A Filipina was among the nurses killed at a nursing home shooting incident last week in Ohio.
Pinay nurse Marlina Medrano, 46, was killed by a lone gunman who went on a shooting spree at the Pine Kirk Care Center in Kirkesville, 25 miles east of Columbus.
Medrano was reportedly killed in the center’s nursing station and died of multiple gunshots from a handgun and shotgun.
The 48-year old nurse’s aide, Cindy Krantz and Kirkersville Police Chief Eric Disario were also shot to death by the gunman.
Authorities say the gunman, 43-year old Thomas Hartless, had a romantic relationship with Medrano. Medrano reportedly got several civil protection orders against Hartless who had a history of domestic violence.
About six weeks after Hartless spent time in jail for beating, choking, kicking, stomping and attempting to run Medrano over with his car, he entered the Pine Kirk Care Center and killed Medrano and his two other victims.
Hartless then took his own life.
