MANILA - Ashes were all that was left of the houses in Barangay Pinyahan near NIA Road in Quezon City after a huge blaze Tuesday evening.
The fire reached Task Force Delta before it was declared under control at 9:57 p.m. The fire was out by a little over midnight.
Around 500 houses were engulfed by fire, affecting around 1,000 families, said Senior Supt. Rico Kwan Tiu, regional director of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Metro Manila.
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista said the residents living in National Housing Authority-owned land will have to be relocated.
Authorities are still investigating on what may have caused the fire.
