MANILA -- ABS-CBN resident political analyst Richard Heydarian has been included in the latest batch of Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM), which is set to break from tradition by awarding 11 candidates this year.
Heydarian, a professor and an international columnist, is recognized for the social sciences. He is known for his expertise on the South China Sea dispute and Philippine current affairs.
Other awardees are Carmela Andal-Castro for child protection law; Ryan Guinaran for indigenous peoples’ rights; Richard Muallil for marine science; Ronivin Pagtakhan for HIV; Saturnino Tiamson for arts and music; Geraldine Racaza for medicine; Earl Martin Valencia for entrepreneurship; Jhett Tolentino for theater arts; and Clarisse Delgado and Randy Halasan for education.
Now on its 56th year, TOYM continues to recognize the outstanding achievement of young active citizens which have resulted in positive changes in the nation.
The awarding is scheduled on Monday at the Malacañan Palace which will be led by President Rodrigo Duterte.
