MISAMIS ORIENTAL - Political prisoners in Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail started a 3-day hunger strike on Wednesday.

The detainees wore black shirts and urged President Rodrigo Duterte to grant them amnesty.

There are five political prisoners in Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail.

According to Vicente Libona, one of the detainees, they are hoping that the president will fulfill his campaign promise to give a general amnesty for all political prisoners.

As a sign of their protest, the prisoners will only eat during dinner.

The hunger strike will culminate on December 10 in time for the celebration of the International Day of Human Rights.
