BATANGAS - A suspected high value drug target was killed in an encounter with law enforcers in Tanauan City Wednesday morning, police said.
Superintendent Robert Baesa, Tanauan police chief, identified the victim as Abel Mabait, a resident of Sto Tomas, Batangas.
Police said Mabait was gunned down after he shot at the police in a buy-bust operation along JP Laurel Ave. Barangay Poblacion 5 around 9:30 am
Mabait's car, a Honda Civic with license number ZKJ-598, was riddled with bullets after the encounter.
Baesa said Maitim had previously surrendered for his involvement in the illegal drug trade but allegedly returned to his old ways.
Maitim was rushed to Daniel Mercado Hospital for treatment but died due to multiple gunshot wounds.
