BUTUAN CITY – Members of progressive youth group Kabataang Makabayan staged a lightning rally in Butuan City Wednesday afternoon to protest the hurried burial of late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani and to push for the favorable conclusion of peace talks.

Protesters wore red shirts and red masks, and shouted anti-government slogans while carrying banners.

Aside from decrying Marcos' burial, the group also voiced out protests at the military's alleged non-compliance with a ceasefire with militants.

They also condemned President Rodrigo Duterte’s warning that he might be forced to suspend the privilege of writ of habeas corpus, if the armed conflict in Mindanao escalated.
