The family of alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa is happy to see him back in the country.
"Super happy kami maski sa TV lang namin siya nakita at least buhay siya na dumating sa Philippines," said an aunt who declined to be interviewed on camera.
Espinosa arrived in Manila at 3:41 a.m. onboard Philippine Airlines flight 657 from Abu Dhabi Friday morning.
Espinosa, whom the police said is the missing piece in the drug trade puzzle, was arrested last month in Abu Dhabi.
PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Espinosa is willing to tell everything he knows about the drug trade.
"Masaya kami kasi healthy siya. We just entrust him to Gen. Bato. Anyway, binigyan naman siya siguro ng assurance sa protection at sa safety niya," his aunt said.
Espinosa and his father, Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., were tagged by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte as big players behind the proliferation of illegal drugs in Eastern Visayas.
Espinosa Sr., was killed in an alleged shootout with members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 8 serving a search warrant against him inside the Baybay, Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail.
