MANILA - Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa clarified on Friday night that President Rodrigo Duterte was unaware of former President Ferdinand Marcos' burial in the Libingan ng mga Bayani which took the country by surprise.
Dela Rosa said he had only "presumed" earlier in the day that Duterte was aware of the burial because the president had previously been in touch with the Marcos family.
May open line of communication naman sila. Kung na-contact ng pamilya 'yung Armed Forces of the Philippines para gusto nilang ipalibing, hindi naman siguro malayo na kokontakin nila ang presidente rin siguro," Dela Rosa said.
(I merely assumed it since they talk. There is an open line of communication between the president and the Marcoses. If the Marcos family was able to contact the Armed Forces for the burial, it is possible that they contacted the president as well.)
Dela Rosa added that a private burial should not be a concern of the president.
Dela Rosa said.
- with a report from Hajji Kaamiño, DZMM
